The All-in-one Graded Reading series is used in conjunction with their Big Books and Phonics programme to produce confident emergent readers by the end of the year.

In addition to an hour daily, focussed and varied outdoor Gross Motor Development, their Physical Education is done with the Primary School educator twice a week as well. This prepares them well for the Fine Motor expectation in class like: tearing, cutting, sticking, drawing, painting etc.

At King Leonard Primary, the GrR learners are climbing and playing, touching, tasting and smelling. Basic skills are practised over and over in a wide variety of such ingenious multi-sensory activities, that the learners won’t even realise that they are actually being taught new skills. They will learn and discover the world around them – and the necessary skills to handle that world – through play.

Coding and Robotics is also introduced to our Gr R group.

Extra Murals

Participating in extra curricula activities after school plays a fundamental role in the holistic development of our learners at King Leonard Primary.
